I got an early start after a nice breakfast of alu parathas. It was a continuation of the straight and flat until about 9:30-10 when the climbing started. It wasn’t a steep gradient but it went on for quite awhile. Unfortunately, like so many of the descents so far in Nepal the poor condition of the road necessitates a slow speed and constant braking.

Very nice dal-baat lunch in Bhalubang and another 30 or so to Lamahi.

This is Dang, used to be Maoist stronghold during the insurgency and long before that part of the Awadh (Lucknow) provinces. There is a very important Tharu population here, but travelling along the highway as I am at a fast pace I cannot really see it.
