After the late start and the Black Forest indulgence (again) I continued westward. There are many lodges and hotels along this highway; I would only recommend for anyone who doesn’t read devanagri script to at least learn the spelling for “lodge”. I got a room in a lodge- a bit dark and grungy- and asked if there wasn’t something better (say, upstairs with a view). The guy was a bit offended and said this was the best room. I have to get back into the conoisseur of grunge mode. It was in fact a perfectly good place, shared bath but a bargain at 500rs. nepali (= about 300 rs. Indian).
