Damkada to Gopigunj

There was a lot of traffic and horrific road surface coming down to Butwal. Lunch at the Black Forest- highly recommended- and probably the last of the exotic foreign style food for awhile. After this was smooth flat riding and it felt great. Traffic was a real pain though and there really was no relaxing.

Would you believe this is a booth to help with the American visa. Apparently the lottery system is still going on.

Not a very good picture of Khemraj’s restaurant.

I hope he is successful with this restaurant that I helped him start.

Here I was visiting with Deepak’s family.

Gita with her daughter Girishma

Gita, Khemraj’s wife and Deepak’s sister had stayed in my flat in Mumbai for a couple of years when her kidneys had failed. Eventually, mainly through Deepak’s efforts she was able to get a transplant. A kidney was donated by her brother Rajkumar.

A couple of years ago and a few years after the transplant Gaurav was born. Gita had a difficult time because the hospital and clinics didn’t want to deal with the complicated medical history. Eventually she found a competent sympathetic obstetrician and the ‘miracle baby’ was delivered.

Deepak’s mother made delicious food.

It was difficult leaving. There was great insistence on my staying a day or 3 longer. I insisted- these family things are somewhat stressful- better in small doses.
