For some reason I am happy to be in Rajasthan. Soon after starting out from Hisar (Harayana) the landscape started to change into more of a scrubland, less populated with broad hills. I saw a large animal crossing the road at a full gallop. I must look up tonight what it might have been- wild ass, or unicorn? It was big, and wild. Before leaving Harayana I was pleased to have met a boxer. Harayana is famous for its boxers (vijendra singh and many others after him). The handsome boxer I met at a chai stop is at Chandigarh University and like many others hopes for a job in railways, police, or some government service where he can pursue the boxing. I wish I had taken a photo but I didn’t.
Today, like much of yesterday was on a good flatish highway and my good audiobook saved me from boredom.
I arrived in Churu. By asking at the side of the road I was directed to Hotel Natraj. They claimed they were full, but maybe it was because I was a foreigner. I was directed to malji ka kamra. This was a spectacular old haveli, but geared for the domestic and foreign tourists of this Shekhawati area of Rajasthan, and the least expensive room was 3,000 rs. + gst. No thank you, so I rode back from the direction I had come and found a very nice room at hotel krishna (tv, hot water, ac, etc. for 800rs. I’m glad I wasn’t in one of my desperate states….
